In addition to using the File > New > Report method to create Quick and Extended Searches you can also click the Create new search icon in the Search pane.

One advantage of taking this approach is that the search type is selected for you based on the currently active search management folder. Also, the resulting new search will be added to this folder.

The last method to be discussed for creating a Quick or Extended Search is the copy object function. This method is the preferred option if you want to make minor modifications to an existing search without changing the source object.
